Gaggle of Banditos!!

Today was the trip to the Vet. I have 6 little babies with their new"SuperHero" masks. Vet seems to take great joy in colors and carefully gave me a nice assortment of bandages. The Clinic takes a ton of photos for their collage and really enjoy the babies! Can't say that for the babies, but they all got a shot of happy juice and we were on the road again!

  2. Is this from the dis-budding? How cute they are!

Does your cow ever try to kick you when you are milking? I've never tried to milk an udder with 4 teats - only 2. The baby keeps her all evenly de-milked? It's so interesting! I always wanted a cow but didn't think I could handle all the milk, which is why I ended up with goats. :)

  3. Yes, disbudded and remember you saying your vet does yours. I am a woosie girl on burning horns and the vet does it so nice,,and they never come back. Now on the cows...some kick a little ...some kick alot...and some are just sweethearts. Just have to try when they have just calved and they are usually so maternalized they want to feed everything. Seems the best time to try, right after calving. Then they think you're their baby too! I only have hand raised Jerseys though and they are the absolute most docile girls you would ever want to have. I just get an extra calf from the sale barn or local ranchers who have twins and put them on my cows when they calf. They take them like their own (usually)but black angus calves..are extremely aggressive about eating eating eating and do not take "NO" for an answer. That way, you don't have to milk and a milkcow can handle two babies very easily. Then 5-6 months later, you sell them and hope..the market is UP:)

  4. So interesting about the cows! Yes, I take my goaties to the vet too but she doesn't bandage them. They are so cute with their "head gear"! How long do they keep them on?

  5. I only leave them on for 24 hrs. The swelling is controlled and they are all nice and dry and protected for the time. If I would do it a little earlier ..I doubt the head gear, but time will tell. This Vet does an amazing job on my Jersey babies. I do not have any trouble with spurs either on any growth coming back so far. He gives them a little sedation, shaves, cuts and caunterizes. I think the 8 dollars a head is well worth it. I think he puts that much in wrap on those little heads.
