pre-Mothers Day Events

First born son is coming by and building me a calf shelter....
Second born son is coming by and helping....
I have a full day of tilling, planting, fencing and relocating the new baby chicks to some new "Outside" digs.
I will start my Mothers Day today with hints for helping me with tilling, planting...fencing...and any other impulsive idea that I might just have today..
Oh yes...and help me move the new(to me) wood cook stove my darling sister gave to me last weekend. I am pretty excited about it and hope to very soon have it set up in my new hobby/work room of my new barn again the boys are going to build for me.....
It isn't the Vermont Bun Baker that I still dream about, but pretty close. Its the 1920's cast iron oven Wood stove with a beautiful intact icey grey/blue enamel with 4 burner plates complete wtih water reservoir and backsplash bun warmer in excellent condition. It needs a little rust removal but nothing is warped, broken or rusted through. Its Beautiful!! We use one exactly like this at the familiy cabin in the Black Hills. I already know how to cook a mean Turkey, Pot Roast and even fluffy cakes in one of these things and I am very anxious to crank it up this winter.

I suppose I better get those plans drawn up for my barn soon before the boys get busy with their own summer plans.
Sure wish Mothers Day came around once a month cuzz I'm not afraid to use it!
Nice thing is....my children don't really need much encouragement in treating their Mother right.
Seems we did some things right and raised some awfully nice kids.

Now on that stove...it brings to mind some weekends of cutting wood and stacking wood and hauling wood. Gosh am I glad I had 5 children!

My total weight loss to date = 19.6lbs

Friend/Diet buddy is to date = 25.something pounds...but who's counting
Ok, seriously she is doing unbelievable!
I on the other hand have slipped and HAD to have that treater and the brownies and a beer and cheated on too many occassions. Granted I haven't gained any weight and I have my tummy fat down considerably and even had to get some clothes in smaller sizes. So even though I don't have my own Food Police at my house like my friend, I still need to answer to my close friend and face the facts.....DO NOT Cheat!

So back to reality and pay attention. This diet program works. Its the cheating that doesn't!
I still have 20-25 lbs that I need to lose and by then I will have adapted into a very good habit of eating my veggies. One thing is for certain, I have loved the veggies and those you can eat and eat and eat....

I have 5 children...and I sure hope they read my blog on occassion cuzz I have a serious WANT for one of these!!

But kids...I see others have one of these! Its all I will ever ever ask for. I will do chores and stuff and never ask for another thing....REALLY!

Goat Milk Caramel!

Anybody out there have a killer recipe for caramel?? I think it would be quite the hit at the farmers market. I know I would be buying some. I was thinking of the black cows we used to get. They were caramels on a stick and had a chocolate coating on them. They were pretty chewy and similar to the sugar daddys. If I could do the goats milk caramel and put them on a stick and dip in a little chocolate....I would just call them Brown Goat!! I know.. not very original but I guess you had to be there!! Ahhh the 70's...

She is a firecracker and a keeper...simply because she is extraordinarily unique!
She is also Houdini reincarnated in that she can escape the most complex gated and sturdy of fences, buildings or kennels. She can smell grain through the thickest of walls and most sealed containers known to man. She is the first at everything...that involves mischief!

This is her as an innocent young 1 day old back in June 2010! She was a picture of innocence....then...and now just looking at her I still smile! She is always up to something....ALWAYS!!
